Wow! It feels so weird writing a post after such a long hiatus, but your girl is back! I have been wanting to get back into blogging, but just didn’t make the time for it. I recently got inspired from a travelling blog that I ran across last week. I started my blog to document different points of my life, so why not have some posts about my random, spontaneous trips!
My sis and I are known for taking random weekend trips. This weekend would be no different. We hopped in “Old Faithful” (what I like to call my car) and traveled down Highway 45.
After 3 and a half hours, we were greeted by our best friend. We always have a blast with her and this trip definitely did not disappoint. Little did we know we would be doing a lot of firsts.
Breakfast at The Egg and I Cafe started our day. This was not a vegan restaurant, but me and my sis always make a way out of no way:) I had avocado toast with a side of fruit. My sis had oatmeal, which she made sure was not made with milk, an english muffin and fruit. What a great meal to start our packed day!
We knew it would be raining soon, so we rushed to this place where they had kayaking and paddle boating. Let me tell you-this was quite the adventure. I’m not going to lie, I was scared at first, but after getting the hang on how to kayak, I considered myself a pro, ha! Long story short, a mini storm pasted through as we were kayaking, my hat flew off, and we got a mini arm workout trying to paddle against the huge waves and winds that overcame us as we tried to make our way back to shore. I was yelling “I’m scared,” as we were getting pushed by the wind. It was quite funny once I was actually on land.
To past some time we went to the mall and mainly did some people watching. We got a little hungry, but of course we couldn’t find anything vegan so we went to Chick-fil-a to get some waffle fries w/ ketchup and bbq sauce…yum! …#WhatVegansEatAtTheMall…#MakeAWayOutOfNoWay…#AccidentalVeganFoods.
Next our friend took us to her church called Hope City. What a great experience! We came right in time for their new series called Love, Sex, and Marriage. When I tell you this series came right on time…it came RIGHT on time! The pastor was super relatable and made the worship experience fun. I truly had a good time.
The day was almost coming to an end, but we still had a few things to do. We had din din at True Foods Kitchen. This was already on my list of places to go in Dallas so I was very excited to go here in Houston. The menu was heaven sent for vegans and vegetarians and also people who are gluten free. Everything was clearly labeled. The food did not disappoint! Very flavorful. I had the Ancient Grain Bowl (quinoa, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, snap peas, and a yummy pesto sauce) My sis had the vegan pizza with a vegan ricotta cheese on top. Can you say LOVE at first sight!
Lastly, we headed across town to Armadillo Escape Room Adventure to meet with our other close friend. This was our first escape room, but our best friend’s 12th! Again, I was scared because the place was located in a spooky area and also when the door closed to the escape room I didn’t know at all what to expect. We scrummaged the room for clues, worked together so well, and ESCAPED with 9 minutes left! This was definitely one for the books. I see why my friend gets a thrill on completing these escape rooms.
Let me know what you do in Houston! I will be going back and would love to know what else there is to do!
