We want to put yall on some good Vegan food in Dallas! So follow along as we show you a new and “oldie but goodie” restaurant we frequent. Veganism does not have to be so hard.
*Note: please do not eat this type of food on a daily basis. 90% of our diet consists of vegetables, grains, and fruit. We cook our meals during the week and have fun eating out on the weekends. It’s called BALANCE!

Dallas Vegan Eats

Well hello there lovelies! I have seriously been slacking on posts. So lets just call this my “quick let me put you on some good vegan food that you can find in Dallas” post. I have been eating goood! And when I say good, I mean…too good where I need to slow down and go back to food prepping so I won’t gain tons of weight good. But that is good for you because I have a handful of places I want to mention in this post. Vegans and non vegans alike can enjoy all of these places! They are the bomb!

Anvil Pub

IMG_0196

Located  in Deep Ellum, sandwiched in between tons of different eateries and bars is Anvil Pub. Bar-like atmosphere with drinks and good bar food. To my surprise they have several vegan-friendly items on the menu. This go around we tried the bbq vegan pizza and the vegan quesadillas. Wow were they good! A little pricey which is always frustrating when it comes to ordering vegan things at non vegan restaurants. It amazes me why restaurants always jack up the prices when it comes to eating healthier-buuutt that’s neither here nor there. I would come back! Good food, good drinks, very interesting people for people watching lol makes a great combination for a great place to hang!

Cheesecake Factory

IMG_0036

Did you know Cheesecake Factory has a Vegan Cobb Salad on their menu??? Well I certainly did not. This salad blew my mind! I’m not a salad person at all so when I say this was good; it must’ve been bomb! An array of beets, lettuce, quinoa, tomatoes, avocado, asparagus, cucumbers, chickpeas, and nuts with an amazing dressing! So filling and delicious.

Goji Cafe

If you happen to be in the mood for Asian food, you have to try this place. Asian food is pretty easy to make vegan so we had no trouble here. This is a healthy Asian food restaurant so it is lightly seasoned, but once you add the extra seasoning to your liking, it was an awesome food experience.

Seven Mile Cafe

IMG_0021

We drove 40 minutes to get here, so it better had been wonderful. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! This is a non vegan restaurant that has a separate vegan menu. Already a “yassss” in my book. The pancakes look thin but they are very filling and yummy. Pictured here is the vegan pancakes and tofu scramble with hash browns. Amazing place to visit for breakfast and brunch!

Glazed

If you are a breakfast/dessert connoisseur like my sister and I, you will be in heaven at Glazed. It is the only doughnut shop where I will see a line outside of the door waiting for the doors to open lol. It’s also the only doughnut shop that I know that opens in the morning AND the night time. ‘YASSSS’ to the vegan doughnut options!

So there you have it! Some non vegan places that serve some amazing vegan options. If you live in Dallas, you have to try them!

You should totally follow me on social networks. You will get 1st looks on where I go next:)

I Can Eat That Too!

“What do you eat,” “I can’t go without meat,” “You can’t eat anything…” I’ve heard it all, but guess what?…I can eat everything you can eat if you think about it. I saw a picture on Instagram that inspired me to write this post. It said “Anything you can eat, I can eat vegan.” So true! In this post I want to compile several foods I’ve been enjoying even while eating out. By the way, when I eat out, it isn’t necessarily the healthiest thing on the menu. I eat healthy everyday so when I eat out its a treat for me. Oh and if this turns into a mini restaurant review, please forgive me…I’m still amazed at how a lot of restaurants are catering to vegans also 🙂

No Eggs, No problem!

Brunching is my favorite! I love breakfast food any time of day! Although it has been a little difficult finding new places where I can enjoy breakfast foods, the key is finding a few places where you know you can enjoy. I’ve mentioned this in a previous post Eating Out While Vegan .

I can still eat pancakes and waffles…

IMG_9445[1]
Spiral Diner! My go-to vegan restaurant. They serve breakfast all day and their pancakes are to die for! So fluffy and so flavorful. Just like the “normal” pancakes that I loved…actually even better:)
IMG_9119[1]
Homemade Waffles. With networks like Youtube, Pinterest, and the web, you can find tons of cruelty free recipes.
IMG_9358[1]
Cereal w/ non diary milk. Weather it be almond, coconut, or soy milk…you can still have your fav cereal.
Pizza, Sushi, Burger Cravings???…no problem

IMG_9351[1]
Pizza from Papa John; Order a veggie pizza w/o cheese! Suprisingly sooooo good!
img_9021
Pizza from Mellow Mushroom. If you must have cheese..they have daiya cheese (vegan cheese) made of cassava and arrowroot. Has similar taste and texture as cheese. I have come to love vegan cheese.

IMG_9398[1]
I love sushi! When I heard Blue Sushi has an array of vegan friendly sushi…I was sold! My new fav. sushi spot!
IMG_9183[1]
Burrito Bowl from Chipotle! Did you know Chipotle has tofu. Its called Sofritas!
Now yall know how I feel about my dessert…I can still have that too!

IMG_9421[1]
Omg…these brownie cheesecakes from Reverie were DELICIOUS
IMG_8891[1]
A vegan red velvet cupcake from Sprinkles. I’m not gonna lie I ate 2 of these mugs…They were so good!

So you can see; it’s not as hard as you think to go vegan. Yea you have to do a little research and plan your meals, but it has been worth it for me. I do sometimes get frustrated with some restaurants who charge extra or simply don’t have options because it makes me feel like I’m different. More and more people are becoming vegan and places need to recognize this and get with the program…ok ok enough of my soap box lol but I am enjoying those places who has embraced veganism.

Eating Out While Vegan

Hey guys! Is it just me or do you sometimes get a craving to eat out, even when you’ve meal prepped for the week?..No?…Oh ok, well I get the craving all the time lol and although I don’t eat out all the time, when I get the craving I want something GOOD! Yesterday my sister and I was trying to figure out where we could go while eating vegan. It hasn’t been too difficult for us to eat out so below I just wanted to let you know how we stay vegan while eating out!

Tip #1: Look online/Do research

I’m not going to lie; it does take a little bit more time to pick a place to eat-especially when you are vegan AND gluten sensitive, but you can do it! You will find that there are options out there. Do not set yourself up for failure. Go ahead and look online or call the restaurant and see if they have vegan or vegetarian options that you can turn vegan. Also I suggest finding a few “go-to” restaurants that are near you. Places that you know you can get something vegan in a cinch. For us we found that our go to will be Chipotle. We also like using Yelp to find restaurants that are all vegan and vegetarian. Spiral Diner is the best!

Vegan, Gluten Free Pizza from Mellow Mushroom

Chipotle has a great online diet and nutritional tool where you can separate your options by if you are vegan, vegetarian, wheat free, gluten free, or dairy free. I was so excited to see this (makes life sooooo much easier!) I wish other restaurants did this. Below is a burrito bowl-we just added our own vegan cheese!

Did you know that Papa John’s pizza base is vegan. Pick a veggie pizza without cheese and viola! Also ask for their garlic dipping sauce. It’s also vegan! Who would have known???

Tip #2: If you like Mexican food, Thai, or Asian food; you are good to go!

You can easily turn almost any of these cuisines into vegan meals…At Mexican restaurants corn tortillas, rice, guacamole, beans are all naturally vegan. So dig in!

Thai foods you can easily make vegan as well. The entrees usually have an option for tofu instead of meats

In Asian cuisine, they usually cook with a lot of vegetables. They even have vegetable sushi.

Tip #3: Order sides

There have been several times where our friends have invited us out to places that doesn’t necessarily have vegan options. If you are not wanting to always eat salads-order sides! Believe it or not french fries are vegan. All menus usually have sides that consist of vegetables. Make a plate full of sides and enjoy yourself with your friends.

Although we don’t eat out too often, when we do, we still enjoy ourselves while sticking with our vegan lifestyle. And its quite thrilling finding places that you thought you could not eat at, but realize that you can. We have only been vegan for almost 2 months so of course it is still a learning experience for us, but we are getting better and better at finding new ways to eat.

Going Vegan??? #WhatVegansEat

Yes! Out of all the things we have tried….my sister and I decided to go vegan. I know, I know this is totally different and to some may be extreme, but you have to understand this lifestyle before you knock it.

We have been vegan for a little less than a month and it has been very exciting.

I’m not gonna lie, sometimes the struggle can be real! You know we love our sweets and that has been the hardest. No dairy, No meats. No fish. On top of that, we cannot have gluten in our diet. We have always been gluten sensitive. Although we do not have Celiac Disease (or so I don’t think we do), we get strong lower abdominal pains and sometimes it would get so strong that we would feel pain in our chest! Another symptom was getting extremely bloated. A horrible feeling. Everything seems like it either has dairy or gluten in it, but we have figured out ways to get around this. I will write another post about this later.

This post, however is what we are eating this week.

Meal #1: I have said this a million times before. Oatmeal is my all time favorite breakfast! And I am relived that I can still enjoy my oatmeal on this vegan, no gluten diet. I add protein powder, ,bananas, peanut butter, and granola or flaxseed/chia seeds to my oatmeal. So delicious!

Meal #2: Mushroom, Sweet Peppers Corn Tortillas.

Meal #3: Cauliflower “Fried” Rice w/ Sweet Potato.

20160204_013730098_iOS.jpg

Snacks will include pears, kiwi, homemade granola, almonds, veggies/hummus

I will drink protein water, add nutritional yeast and hemp seeds to add protein to my day.

We have incorporated supplements so that we get enough nutrients: Iron, probiotic, Vitamin D, and B12 pills are apart of our everyday routine

I will eventually make a separate post on recipes, how we are maintaining this lifestyle, and new foods/finds.

Any other vegans out there? What are some tips you can give a newbie???

Lets connect:)
