What I Eat In A Day | Intermittent Fasting

Hello lovlies! I’m so happy to share this video with you guys. A lot of people ask my sister and I what we eat as vegans all the time so here is a little snippet of our day. We hope to bring more of these videos to you more often because not only is it giving you ideas, but we can also go back to these videos and recreate some of these creations.

Most of you are not vegan, but please still feel free to watch this as you might want to have #meatlessmondays, want ideas for a healthier meal, or simply interested on what we eat. Enjoy!!

1st Meal: Blueberry Tofu Smoothie Bowl

  • Block of silken tofu [great for protein]
  • Blueberries [natural antioxidants]
  • Frozen Bananas [“carb up”]
  • A little bit of water to aid in blending

Blend all ingredients until smooth and top to your heart’s desires!

2nd Meal: ‘Not Your Mamas’ Cornbread and Beans (haha!)

  • 3 T coconut oil
  • 1 1/2 c corn meal
  • 1 c gluten free flour
  • 3 1/2 t baking powder
  • applesauce cup
  • 2 1/2 T coconut sugar
  • salt
  • 1 c non dairy milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a pan. In a large bowl, whisk together all dry ingredients, then pour in wet ingredients. Stir until combined, then pour mixture in pan. Bake at 350 for 25-30 min, until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cornbread comes out clean.

Heat up some beans and spinach on the side and top with sriracha because sriracha is bae 🙂

What I Eat In A Day ft. Papa John’s Vegan Pizza

Hey lovelies! 3 months still going strong! We are still learning and adapting, but being vegan is getting easier and easier. This is a random “What I Eat In A Day” video. I love these vids! Not the healthiest, but it shows you how easy it is to go vegan! Who knew you could find vegan food EVERYWHERE; even at a pizza joint! Enjoy!

Eating Out While Vegan

Hey guys! Is it just me or do you sometimes get a craving to eat out, even when you’ve meal prepped for the week?..No?…Oh ok, well I get the craving all the time lol and although I don’t eat out all the time, when I get the craving I want something GOOD! Yesterday my sister and I was trying to figure out where we could go while eating vegan. It hasn’t been too difficult for us to eat out so below I just wanted to let you know how we stay vegan while eating out!

Tip #1: Look online/Do research

I’m not going to lie; it does take a little bit more time to pick a place to eat-especially when you are vegan AND gluten sensitive, but you can do it! You will find that there are options out there. Do not set yourself up for failure. Go ahead and look online or call the restaurant and see if they have vegan or vegetarian options that you can turn vegan. Also I suggest finding a few “go-to” restaurants that are near you. Places that you know you can get something vegan in a cinch. For us we found that our go to will be Chipotle. We also like using Yelp to find restaurants that are all vegan and vegetarian. Spiral Diner is the best!

Vegan, Gluten Free Pizza from Mellow Mushroom
Chipotle has a great online diet and nutritional tool where you can separate your options by if you are vegan, vegetarian, wheat free, gluten free, or dairy free. I was so excited to see this (makes life sooooo much easier!) I wish other restaurants did this. Below is a burrito bowl-we just added our own vegan cheese!

Did you know that Papa John’s pizza base is vegan. Pick a veggie pizza without cheese and viola! Also ask for their garlic dipping sauce. It’s also vegan! Who would have known???

Tip #2: If you like Mexican food, Thai, or Asian food; you are good to go!

You can easily turn almost any of these cuisines into vegan meals…At Mexican restaurants corn tortillas, rice, guacamole, beans are all naturally vegan. So dig in!

Thai foods you can easily make vegan as well. The entrees usually have an option for tofu instead of meats

In Asian cuisine, they usually cook with a lot of vegetables. They even have vegetable sushi.

Tip #3: Order sides

There have been several times where our friends have invited us out to places that doesn’t necessarily have vegan options. If you are not wanting to always eat salads-order sides! Believe it or not french fries are vegan. All menus usually have sides that consist of vegetables. Make a plate full of sides and enjoy yourself with your friends.

Although we don’t eat out too often, when we do, we still enjoy ourselves while sticking with our vegan lifestyle. And its quite thrilling finding places that you thought you could not eat at, but realize that you can. We have only been vegan for almost 2 months so of course it is still a learning experience for us, but we are getting better and better at finding new ways to eat.

Where Have I Been???

I’m Back!!!! Hey guys, I have been soooo mia regarding my blog. And to be honest, I do not have an excuse. Of course I have been busy with work (that’s a given), but I’ve always been busy with work and still made time to blog. Anyway, I am back and have grown and evolved since the last time I blogged.

First off, Happy New Year everyone! I hope you guys had a fantastic 2015! New year, new goals, new beginnings. I actually accomplished almost everything, in some form,  that was on my vision board for 2015. I am ready to keep progressing and keep growing in 2016.

I have several interesting posts that I am excited to share with you guys (interesting to me at least). You all know how my sister and I love changing our eating habits and like to try different things regarding health and fitness. Well…we are vegan now! It has been so exciting and an eye-opener so far and of course I will take you all with me on this journey! Look back on my old posts to see everything we have done:) GM Detox , Whole 30, Meal Prep Ideas.

My hair has grown sooo much. Even though I don’t think it has grown as fast as I want it to grow; I look back at pictures and realize how much it has really grown. I did already hit my 1 year anniversary at the beginning of January. So far I have been protective styling like crazy in hopes to leave my natural hair alone and let it grow.

Again, I blog to look back at what I have done and see the progression of my life. I love to share my journeys and hopefully I am helping you all with your different journeys.

GM Detox | Getting Back on Track

Hello sweeties! Long time no post.

I wanted to share this new detox I am currently doing. I’m still all about that fit/healthy life, but I’m not gonna lie, I fell off a little bit. To get back on track I searched Pinterest and found this 7 day detox. It seemed easy enough…let’s see if I’ll be saying that by the end of the detox lol!

This detox claims to help you lose 10-17 lbs in a week. I didn’t think it sounded like the healthiest way to lose weight, but I’m honestly just doing it to get back on track. If I lose weight, great. I needed something that would get rid of all the toxins and junk I was putting in my body. Something that would reset my way of thinking and I thought the GM Detox fit the bill.

Below is the day by day chart of what you eat.

My Experience

Day 1: Fruit Day! I really thought this was going to be an easy day because I love fruit. It wasn’t as easy as I thought. Throughout the day I was fine…I think mainly because I was at work and didn’t have time to think about it. When I got home I started to feel the hunger pains. I tried to work out but just did a little bit. I thought to myself, the faster I get to sleep, the less I could think about how hungry I was. I also tried to drink a lot of water with each meal. By the end of the day I was tired of going to the restroom.

Breakfast: 1 apple | Mid Morning Snack: 1 plum | Lunch: Fruit salad(peaches, strawberries, grapes) | Dinner: grapes, clementine | Snack : strawberries, grapes | Drink: 3 -16 oz water

Day 2: Vegetable Only Day! Breakfast time was fine. I had a few fingerling potatoes with a side of other vegetables that filled me up pretty well. By lunch, I was starving and tried to snack on raw carrots between bigger meals. I’m personally not a raw carrot eating person, so this was difficult for me. Raw carrots seemed to be the only “snackable” vegetable I could think of. Veggie day was hard for me. Surprisingly, I was craving fruit.

Breakfast: potatoes/mixture of vegetables | Snack: raw carrots | Lunch: mixture of vegetables | Dinner: mixture of vegetables

Day 3: Fruits and Vegetables. Today we are not allowed to eat bananas, but I needed something more substantial. I cheated and ate a banana for breakfast. It helped me get through this day. I felt good by day 3. This day was easy because I could have both vegetables and fruit which meant more substantial meals.

Breakfast: bananas/strawberries | Lunch: vegetables/clementine | Dinner: vegetables/peach/half apple

Day 4: Bananas and Milk. The start of this day went by smoothly. I ate a whole banana for breakfast with some water. At lunch I cut up 2 bananas and put it inside some almond milk, sprinkled with cinnamon. It was delicious, but by the end of day 4, I was over it lol. Here’s where it got tricky. It was one of my co workers birthday and we went out this night. I had 1 drink. The detox was over.

Breakfast: Banana | Lunch: 2 bananas/almond milk | Dinner: 2 bananas/peanut butter(don’t think you are allowed pb:( ) | Drink: “Sex on the Beach” 😦

Me and My Sister’s Results:

My sis did not lose much weight either, but looks more toned!
My sis did not lose much weight either, but looks more toned!
Although I didn't lose much weight, I lost inches and fat!
Although I didn’t lose much weight, I lost inches and fat!

I’m human. I ended the detox early, but this was a very interesting learning experience. I learned that I do have the will power to avoid fatty, junky food that my job is always putting in front of me. I learned that when I set my mind to something, no matter how hard, I can get through it.

Detoxing, for me at least, is not about losing weight. It is about challenging yourself mentally and being strong enough to say “no” to certain foods. I am now ready to get back in the groove of things with my healthy eating habits and food prepping. I highly recommend doing this detox with a family member or friend because you will need someone to vent to lol.

Where Have I Been???

Hello hunnies ! Long time no post.

I have been super busy at work and life but I have missed blogging for sure.

I just wanted to get on here and do a quick update on random stuff.

My current favs: Almond Chia Candle from Marshalls

Smells so good!!! I suck at describing scents; you just have to try it! I never knew what great variety of candles Marshalls have but they actually have a lot.

I also picked up this tea from Marshalls: Saffron Tea

It says it’s a diet tea, but I’m not using it as that. I just love the taste of it. It reminds me of cinnamon gum. I am starting to love flavored teas and this one didn’t disappoint-so comforting to end my night with this tea.

Another update is that I have started journaling. I learn so much throughout the day, hear or see some awesome quotes, or inspired by random things; I would like to write these things down and remember them.

Quick Hair Update: My hair is growing nicely. It’s only been a little over 2 months since I big chopped, but I can feel and see the difference. I have been washing/co washing once every week and doing the inversion method one week out of the month. I am currently protective hairstyling with my very first DIY wig!

Fitness Update: I have been working out everyday. Even if it hasn’t been more than 30 min, I still make sure I do some kind of physical activity. I will admit I have been slacking on my healthy eating, but what is a journey without ups and downs?

Currently Reading: One of my 2015 goals is to start reading. I love reading but never really made time for it. It is important to me to keep learning, and to keep expanding my creativity. Books help me with that. I am current,y reading Pink Lips and Empty Hearts by Heather Lindsey. This book is an inspirational book on how to really live for God. I love it. I am definitely at a time in my life where I strive to get closer to God and it is time for that extra push.

On My Nails

Not the neatest but it will do for now.

What’s been up with yall????

I have a fun post in mind when I hit 100 followers…I’m at 94 right now. Help me get to 100; share, comment, and follow me!

Let’s stay connected!:)
