Vlog: Kalachandji’s & Spiral Diner

We want to put yall on some good Vegan food in Dallas! So follow along as we show you a new and “oldie but goodie” restaurant we frequent. Veganism does not have to be so hard.
*Note: please do not eat this type of food on a daily basis. 90% of our diet consists of vegetables, grains, and fruit. We cook our meals during the week and have fun eating out on the weekends. It’s called BALANCE!

Dallas Vegan Eats

Well hello there lovelies! I have seriously been slacking on posts. So lets just call this my “quick let me put you on some good vegan food that you can find in Dallas” post. I have been eating goood! And when I say good, I mean…too good where I need to slow down and go back to food prepping so I won’t gain tons of weight good. But that is good for you because I have a handful of places I want to mention in this post. Vegans and non vegans alike can enjoy all of these places! They are the bomb!

Anvil Pub

Located  in Deep Ellum, sandwiched in between tons of different eateries and bars is Anvil Pub. Bar-like atmosphere with drinks and good bar food. To my surprise they have several vegan-friendly items on the menu. This go around we tried the bbq vegan pizza and the vegan quesadillas. Wow were they good! A little pricey which is always frustrating when it comes to ordering vegan things at non vegan restaurants. It amazes me why restaurants always jack up the prices when it comes to eating healthier-buuutt that’s neither here nor there. I would come back! Good food, good drinks, very interesting people for people watching lol makes a great combination for a great place to hang!

Cheesecake Factory

Did you know Cheesecake Factory has a Vegan Cobb Salad on their menu??? Well I certainly did not. This salad blew my mind! I’m not a salad person at all so when I say this was good; it must’ve been bomb! An array of beets, lettuce, quinoa, tomatoes, avocado, asparagus, cucumbers, chickpeas, and nuts with an amazing dressing! So filling and delicious.

Goji Cafe

If you happen to be in the mood for Asian food, you have to try this place. Asian food is pretty easy to make vegan so we had no trouble here. This is a healthy Asian food restaurant so it is lightly seasoned, but once you add the extra seasoning to your liking, it was an awesome food experience.

Seven Mile Cafe

We drove 40 minutes to get here, so it better had been wonderful. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! This is a non vegan restaurant that has a separate vegan menu. Already a “yassss” in my book. The pancakes look thin but they are very filling and yummy. Pictured here is the vegan pancakes and tofu scramble with hash browns. Amazing place to visit for breakfast and brunch!

If you are a breakfast/dessert connoisseur like my sister and I, you will be in heaven at Glazed. It is the only doughnut shop where I will see a line outside of the door waiting for the doors to open lol. It’s also the only doughnut shop that I know that opens in the morning AND the night time. ‘YASSSS’ to the vegan doughnut options!

So there you have it! Some non vegan places that serve some amazing vegan options. If you live in Dallas, you have to try them!

You should totally follow me on social networks. You will get 1st looks on where I go next:)

#DallasGoodEats | April 2015

Hello lovelies!

I’ve totally been slacking on writing blog posts…sad day 😦

But April has been filled with delicious Dallas finds:) First up…SouthPaw’s Organic Grill.

…for the health conscious. Located in Uptown: 3227 McKinney Ave Dallas, Tx. Combined with their organic and natural foods, no added sugars, syrups, nitrates, or preservatives, and patio seating, SouthPaw’s is a great spot to grab lunch. I had the Pavo Guacamole Wrap which has turkey, Swiss cheese, mixed greens, tomatoes, and spicy guacamole. Delish!

Next, for the not so health conscious… Funnel Cake Paradise, located 4353 Ln Dallas, Tx.

Ever had a craving for carnival food???…now you do not have to wait till the fair opens. Funnel Cake Paradise has an array of delicious funnel cake flavors (cherry, turtle chocolate caramel, powered sugar, caramel apple, strawberry banana, chocolate dream, and cookies and cream). They also have other carnival classics like frito pies, chili cheese fries, nachos, and corn dogs. My sis and I shared the turtle chocolate caramel with a scoop of vanilla ice cream…can you say yummy!!! And even better it is a black owned business.

Another “black owned business” is Sweet Georgia Brown. I’ve heard so many great things about this place that I had to try it for myself. It definitely did not disappoint. Located 2840 Ledbetter Dr Dallas, Tx. If you are looking for that “stick to your bones” after church soul food, look no further! Be prepared to stand in a long line, but also be prepared eat some really good food. They are very generous with their portions so please come on an empty stomach. My sis and I shared baked smothered chicken, macaroni and cheese, cabbage, cornbread, and peach cobbler. That is all we could eat for the entire day and we shared! How ridiculous is that!?

Oddfellows  is located in the Bishop Arts District of Dallas. 316 7th St Dallas, Tx. We went on a sunny midweek day. If you didn’t know I LOVE BRUNCH FOOD! Oddfellows has a rustic coffee house feel. So bright and cheery! Beignets for breakfast, don’t mind if I do!:)

Last but definitely not least, Rudys Chicken. Here’s another place that has a huge Dallas following. Located in Oak Cliff, Rudys is a Dallas staple. I do think it is hyped up, but it is still delicious!

My sis and I eat healthy throughout the week, so we like to go out and enjoy ourselves every once in awhile. I have been loving these new Dallas finds, its like an adventure to us; exploring our city for the next great restaurant. It’s like we are tourist in our own city:)

What have u been eating in your city???

#DallasGoodEats | Elaine’s Jamaican Kitchen

Guys! Let me tell you about this place!

It is located on 2717 Martin Luther King Junior Blvd Dallas, TX in South Dallas. The location isn’t the greatest, but the food is AMAZING. My sister and I went on a Saturday because we are trying to try different cuisines and let me tell you…Elaine’s is the truth! We never had Caribbean food before and I’m glad our first taste was here-right in our own city.

This is what they call a “large” plate….suppose to be for ONE person…crazy

We had the oxtails with curry chicken, brown rice, cabbage, and hot water cornbread. We thought sharing would be the perfect amount for lunch, but boy were we surprised. You get soooo much food even when we shared a large plate. Never had oxtails before, but they were succulent and tender. Everything was very flavorful and the environment inside of the building was cool and laid back.

I wanted to try everything on the menu, especially their patties! I saw great reviews for their patties on Yelp, so we will definitely be coming back…after we burn these 1,000 calories we just ate lol.

A must try if you live in the Dallas area.

#DallasGoodEats: HopDoddy Burger Bar

Hello all!

Another Dallas Good Eats here!

I went to HopDoddy yesterday with my 2 sisters. We were craving a good burger so we decided to try this place.

They are located at 3227 McKinney Ave. Dallas, Tx.

Hours: Open Mon-Thurs 11am-10pm,
Fri-Sat 11am-11pm, Sun 11am-10pm

We went on a Monday around 2:30. There was only a few people there so it was pretty quiet. They have a pretty good selection. I do wish they had more variety of burgers though. Check out the menu here—-> HopDoddy Burger Bar. I ended up getting the Continental Club. I was expecting a club-like wrap, but it is like a burger. I was also expecting turkey deli meat, but it was actually a turkey burger. Nonetheless very tasty. I enjoyed it.

The fries…AMAZING. My sister and I shared the truffle fries. They were so good yall. It comes with this sauce that adds something special. Also ask for the chipotle sauce.

I wish they had a wider selection of shakes. We ended up not trying the shakes.

Overall a good place to grab a good burger.

I have been twice and both times has been amazing. Great ambience, service, and food. I recommend if you are going on a Sunday for brunch to call to make a reservation or be prepared for a lengthy wait. The first time I went I was thinking healthy so I ordered one of their egg white scrambles…Delicious.

The second time I went I craved their chicken and waffles. Can you say the BEST chicken and waffles in Dallas!?? It actually may be. The waffles have bacon cooked in the batter. The chicken comes topped with gravy and hot sauce-not too much not too little. It was heavenly. My sister and I are now on the hunt for the best chicken and waffles in Dallas. Johathon’s (check out post/review) is a very close 2nd. Can anyone beat Breadwinners? I’ll keep you all updated!

Check out their menu here—-> Breadwinner’s Menu

I don’t know how I’ve gone without eating here! This place is a must try!

Has anyone been? If so, what have you eaten?

#DallasGoodEats: Spiral Diner & Bakery

Guys! I have to tell you about this awesome place I went to yesterday. You know how I have raved about Jonathon’s in Oak Cliff, right? Check #DallasGoodEats:Jonathon’s for review. Well right next door to Jonathon’s is a place called Spiral Diner & Bakery. It is a 100% vegan and mostly organic restaurant that serves food that appeals to both herbivores and carnivores. It is located on 1101 N. Beckley Avenue Dallas, Texas near the Bishop Arts District.

I was trying to find a “cheat day” place where I could eat out but still feel like I am eating healthy foods and BINGO I found it! Their food is so good! They serve foods like nachos, quesadillas, burgers, wraps, and salads; all vegan of course. I couldn’t believe it was all vegan though because it was so tasty. I got the Hot Hummus wrap. My sister got quesadillas and my best friend got the quinoa with black beans dinner.

And did I mention they serve organic ice cream with their homemade desserts! My sister and I shared the turtle brownie.

This place is a must try! You don’t have to be a vegan or vegetarian to enjoy the foods here. This will definitely be a place I frequent when I want to eat out. Check Yelp for more reviews and pictures!

Until next time,
