Dollar Tree DIY: Storage/Organization

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I’ve been on this organization/decorating high for a couple of weeks now. I recently went to the dollar tree and saw a lot of things I could do a diy with.

I picked up different size glasses, some letter stickers, a few ornaments, some fake flowers, pencil holders and some black sand. I thought all of these things would be great for organizing my makeup on my vanity and also for decorating for the holidays.

Dollar Tree DIY #1: Vanity Centerpiece


I had the above vase already. I just added the fake flowers that I got from the Dollar Tree. I put some jumbo eye pencils around the flower and also any other makeup that was just laying around. The flower vase added a feminine touch to the vanity while also acting as storage.

Dollar Tree DIY #2: Makeup Storage(lip pencils)


I saw these pencil holders in the office section of the store. They work perfectly for storing my lip pencils.

Dollar Tree DIY #3: Makeup Brushes Holder


They have all different shapes of glasses at the dollar tree. This one was perfect for makeup brushes. I added the black sand and stuck all my brushes upright. I also added the stickers to decorate the holder.

Dollar Tree DIY #4: Holiday Vase

We don’t usually get a Christmas tree anymore for the holidays but I still like to decorate for the season. The Dollar Tree has tons of stuff for Christmas and it’s great if you are on a budget!


I purchased the tall glass vases, the ornaments, and flowers to make these holiday vases.

Below are pictures of my vanity. I still want to pick up more things for organization, but it is beginning to look more organized with the help of Dollar Tree.







Different Protective Hairstyles and Hair Update

Hola chicas!

I just wanted to share some of the different protective hairstyles I have had.
Protective Hairstyling simply means tucking your ends or doing low manipulation hairstyles in order for you to retain your length. Wether it’s wearing wigs, doing twist and braid outs, buns, or braids, protective hairstyling is a vital part in my healthy hair journey.
I use protective hairstyles 99% of the time. I would like to think I’m the queen of protective hairstyling lol.

Hair Update!

I recently cut off all my bone straight relaxed ends. I am now fully Texlaxed and loving it! Even though my hair is shorter, I know it will grow faster and I will be able to retain my length. Below is a picture of my hair in a flat twist out.

Strawberry Baked Oatmeal

I made this oatmeal dish this past week for breakfast and thought to share because it was so good and healthy. Oats are my favorite ingredient to cook for breakfast so this dish was perfect! I also had fruit that I needed to use up before it got bad, so I tossed everything in this dish and viola! a wonderful breakfast that I could also take on-the-go.


  • strawberries*
  • diced apples *
  • blackberries*
  • 2 c of oats
  • 1 1/2 t of baking powder
  • 2 t cinnamon
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 t vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cottage cheese or plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 c unsweetened almond milk

*you can use whatever fruit you have on hand


1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and mix all dry ingredients together in a big bowl. (oats, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt) Add 1/2 of the sliced fruit into the mixture.

2. In another bowl mix wet ingredients. (vanilla extract, cottage cheese, eggs, maple syrup, milk)

3. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix. In a foiled lined baking dish, add the mixture. Top with the remainder of the fruit.

4. Bake for 30 minutes covered, then another 15 minutes uncovered.

Yields about 6

This dish is great for meal prepping and leftovers. Give it a try!


What I Eat in a Day

This post is a sample of what I eat on a daily basis. Hopefully it will give you some ideas on healthy meals.


1. Breakfast: Homemade Banana/Strawberry Oat Muffins

2. Lunch: Brown Rice, avacado, baby tomatoes, and onion with a slice of whole wheat bread, grapes, and a small piece of dark chocolate

3. Snack: handful of mixed nuts

4. Dinner: cilantro crusted chicken with mixed vegetables sprinkled with a little bit of parmesan cheese

5. Dessert Snack: peanut butter and bananas

The trick to eating healthy is not to deprive yourself of food. Make your meals flavorful. Eat a small amount of chocolate (dark chocolate is good for you in moderation). Eat healthy fats like avocado and peanut butter. Eating healthy becomes easier and easier as time goes by, you just have to make up your mind that you will stick to it!

Hello Sunshine: How To Be A Morning Person

Hello lovelies!

Long time no post:( I’ve been all over the place lately, but I am back!

Do you every wonder why you go into work early in the morning and there’s this one person who is always vibrant and full of energy?…They may be naturally morning people or they may be like me–not necessarily morning people, but take steps to make their morning go as smoothly as possible.

I wake up at 3:30am every morning for work…how do I do it you may wonder…

Weekend Prep:

Preparation doesn’t start the morning of, or even the day before…my preparation starts on the weekends. You all know by now that I am a health nut and live a healthy lifestyle. The first thing I think about is what I will eat for the week.(breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) I go grocery shopping and meal prep so that I do not have to think about preparing food the day of.

*Tip: Make easy packable meals. Things like muffins, granola bars, fruit, wraps, or pasta. Check out some of my previous posts under the category “Meal Prep” and “Easy Healthy Meals.”

On Sunday, I need my time with God. I reflect on the past week and see how I can get better spiritually. Having this reflection time and going to church really helps me start my week and is a vital part for me to have a great week.

The weekend is also my “me days.” I wash and pamper my hair, do facial masks, paint my nails, and catch up on all my recorded shows. Its my time to relax and do some of the things I love.

The Night Before:

Every night I make sure I exercise. Incorporating fitness along with eating healthy has truly been very beneficial. I am more energized and feel better, mentally and physically.

I make sure I have my breakfast, lunch, and a snack packed, ready for me to pick up as I head out the door the next morning.

I iron and lay out the clothes I will be wearing to work.

This may be a little weird, but while I’m in the shower, I quickly think about how I want my makeup to look. I have an every day makeup look, but sometimes I like to switch it up from time to time. Thinking about this makes my morning go very smooth.

Morning of:

3:30am (I try not to hit the snooze button, but usually end up hitting it 3 times lol)

4:00am: Say a quick prayer and mentally get ready for the day.

4:10am: Put on clothes that is already laid out and make coffee

4:20am: Brush teeth, wash face, and continue with face routine, make up, and hair. (On “Not Feeling It” days I Iisten to my Christian music station on Pandora. Now in days I’ve been listening to my Christmas station 🙂

4:35am:  Pick up the meals(that I already prepped), work bag, and coffee.

4:45am: Out the door, ready for work.

***I have come to the conclusion that getting up early for work is really all mental. Music, preparation, and changing your mindset has really made me a morning person. I now enjoy working early and even wake up early on my off days as well.

#HDOTW: Healthy Dinner of the Week

Hello lovelies! As always, today is food prep Sunday.

I hadn’t had zucchini in awhile and thought of this healthy, tasty dish.

3-4 zucchini
A can of crushed tomatoes
Tomato sauce
Steak or chicken
Parmesan cheese
Minced garlic

1. Chop meat into chunks. In a 360 degree oven, bake steak or chicken until done. We had steak at the house so that is what I used.
2. As the meat is cooking, slice zucchini into rounds.
3. On medium heat, add olive oil and minced garlic to a large skillet.
4. Add sliced zucchini to the skillet and cook for about 4 minutes.
5. As the zucchini softens, add crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce. I ended up using just about half the tomato sauce.
6. Take out cooked meat and add to zucchini tomato mixture. On low-medium heat, let stew cook for about 5 minutes longer.
7. Garnish with parmesan cheese and cilantro.

This dish turned out so delicious! Give it a try.
